The Webb Space Telescope uncovers fascinating new details in the stellar jets known as Herbig-Haro 49 and 50.

Blasted from a newly-formed star, these powerful streams raced across nearly two light-years of space before plowing into a dense, dusty region, with HH 49 on the right and HH 50 on the left. 

The bubble-like shapes along the HH 50 jet indicate that its star has released multiple bursts of material. 

At the tip of the jet, Webb's sharp vision reveals that what was once thought to be part of the jet is a separate galaxy, thousands of times more distant.
